Welcome to GNMS (Guru Nanak Mission Society of Atlanta) Gurudwara Sahib, Atlanta. A "Gurdwara," meaning 'the doorway to the guru (teacher)' is a place of worship for Sikhs, the followers of Sikhism. People of all religious backgrounds, are welcome at a Gurdwara. We hope this website can help new folks in the Atlanta area become familiar with the Gurdwara and get them in touch with the community

Guru Nanak Mission Society of Atlanta Inc (GNMS) aka Atlanta Gurdwara Sahib is a non-profit organization formed to practice, promote and preach the principles of .Guru Nanak Dev Ji's message of universal brotherhood as taught by the ten Sikh Gurus and Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The Gurudwara Sahib was formed to cater the religious, Social, and cultural needs of all community members. We firmly believe that Sangat is supreme in its mission, thus input of Sangat is taken as an order to cater the needs, desires and programs.


The Atlanta Gurdwara Sahib was started in August 2010. With an overwhelming support from Sadh Sangat, the loan was closed in June 2010. Tireless work done day and night by Sangat Sewadars and volunteers made the building worth for Guru Ghar opening. Then seeking the Guru’s utmost blessings, the inaugural ceremonies were performed in August and Guru Granth Sahib were installed at the Gurdwara Sahib for the first time. Sadh Sangat members in large numbers visited the Gurdwara Sahib and participated in the inauguration ceremony with great charm and enthusiasm.

Gurudwara Sahib Grand Opening

The Grand Opening of Guru Ghar was held in November 2010 on the Aagman Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. The panth renowned Jatha of Bhai Sahib Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji Srinagar Wale visited and Gurdwara Sahib for the first time in Atlanta to be a part of this auspicious occasion. Entire Sadh Sangat of Georgia was highly delighted by their visit and reached Gurdwara Sahib in large capacity to listen their electrifying and heart capturing keertan. The world renowned scholars Dr. Harnam Singh Shan and S. Kuldeep Singh of Toledo also enlightened the Sadh Sangat with their lectures on the life and achievements of Guru Nanak and his contribution to the mankind.

With the collective efforts of the Sadh Sangat and due to intense passion, dedication and generosity of its volunteers, the organization that started a short time ago has now flourished into one of the most renowned and well known Gurudwara Sahib in Atlanta Georgia.

GNMS is proud to offer a unique platform to the Sadh Sangat that supports equality, love, respect, humility, and tranquility where the community can come together under one umbrella and celebrate our cultural heritage and practice Guru’s teachings.
